Global warming is the increase of the average temperature in the atmosphere and oceans over time due primarily to human the late 19th century, scientists have monitored the fluctuations in temperature and studied global warming theories and trends to determine the causes and to assess the extent to which they are due to human activity. The advent of ocean-observing satellites has launched a new era of marine discovery. Remotely sensed satellite data and modeling techniques enable the global mapping of seasonal changes in ocean surface topography, currents, waves, winds, phytoplankton content, sea-ice extent, rainfall, sunlight reaching the sea, and sea surface temperature.
Oceanographic aspects of the First GARP Global Experiment (FGGE) jointly prepared by Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, GARP Activities Office/WMO Unesco, If you're on the hunt for even more experiments (simple ones) with accompanying explanations I highly highly recommend the book Awesome Ocean Science! There are many experiments and activities for many aspects of the ocean. It covers all the topics, not just the water portion. I learned quite a bit just thumbing through the book!
It is an evolutionarily young species, first occurring in Pleistocene fossil records ∼ years BP (Raffi et al., ), descended from a lineage that has been phylogenetically separated from most other extant coccolithophores for ∼ million years (Medlin et al., ) and it rose rapidly to global dominance (Thierstein et al., ). Ocean Color—Seeing the Ocean for the First Time. The Coastal Zone Color Scanner (CZCS) launched in showed biological oceanographers the patterns, variability, complexity, and coherence of ocean biology for the first time. Biological oceanography became a global discipline in a single step.

First GARP Global Experiment (FGGE), the primary result to date of the second action mentioned above is a SCOR document on specific oceanographic programmes during the FGGE. document includes information obtained during the FGGE, INDEX, NORPAX, Equatorial (FINE) workshop from 27 June to 12 August WMO.
Daily averaged positions from about satellite‐tracked drifting buoys launched during the First GARP Global Experiment are used to estimate the sea surface current velocity field south of 20°S.

Four years ago, our report on the Global Atmospheric Research Program (Perry, ) was written while an observational armada assembled for the GARP Atlantic Tropical Experiment (GATE).
Now, the data resulting from that massive effort have been archived and serve as raw material for a still‐growing body of research on the tropical atmosphere. The NOAA Data Buoy Office (NDBO) is actively involved in the development of a meteorological and oceanographic drifting buoy system to provide a basic set of simple meteorological parameters during the First GARP Global Experiment (FGGE).
One important aspect of planning for the FGGE is the measurement of near surface conditions (barometric pressure and temperature) from an array of. Oceanography (compound of the Greek words ὠκεανός meaning "ocean" and γράφω meaning "write"), also known as oceanology, is the study of the physical and biological aspects of the is an important Earth science, which covers a wide range of topics, including ecosystem dynamics; ocean currents, waves, and geophysical fluid dynamics; plate tectonics and the geology of the sea.

The First Garp Global Experiment data collected during at sea level and mb level have been used to examine the origin and characteristics of the westwards moving disturbances in the western Indian Ocean. From the analyses of the above data the following sequence of events in the westwards moving disturbances has emerged: (i) Increase (decrease) in the pressure of the Mascarene High.
Oceanography is concerned with all aspects of Earth’s oceans and seas. Physical oceanography is the study of the properties of seawater, including the formation of sea ice, the movement of seawater (e.g., waves, currents, and tides), and the interactions between the so-called World Ocean and.

Oceanography is the study of the physical, chemical, and biological features of the ocean, including the ocean’s ancient history, its current condition, and its future. In a time when the ocean is threatened by climate change and pollution, coastlines are eroding, and entire species of marine life are at risk of extinction, the role of.
